Experiential Arts Education Program

The temple's schools are "experiential" -- they utilize cultural and artistic experience to transcend the limitations of ordinary classroom learning. This approach is the key to establishing Leo Baeck Temple's schools as unique attractions for families throughout Greater Los Angeles.

Almost all of Leo Baeck Temple's families drive by one or more other congregations in order to participate in its one-of-a-kind education
program, in which youth choirs, folk dance, visual arts projects, on-site radio programming, and countless other creative mechanisms are employed to foster the formation of identity and values.

For our older adults, Yoga for Seniors, literature, music, opera, foreign language study, memoir writing and current events are explored interactively in the temple's many offerings.  Not surprisingly, Leo Baeck Temple attracts numerous families who might otherwise be disengaged from values education and cultural life.  They come from the western and central parts of Los Angeles, as well as from the widest variety of neighborhoods in the San Fernando Valley.
