The Mark Taper-Johnny Mercer Artists Program Assistant Position

The Mark Taper – Johnny Mercer Artists Program is an integral part of family-centered care at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where we help patients heal—not only with the needles, pills and bandages, but also with pens, guitars and paintbrushes. Our board-certified Expressive Arts Therapists—specialists in music, art or dance/movement therapy—work in concert with a child’s family and medical treatment team to provide the most comprehensive care possible.

The Artists Program also collaborates with local volunteer groups to provide free educational workshops and diversionary performances in music and theater arts to patients and their families. Coordinating these activities in a pediatric acute care setting requires significant supervision, and the new Artists Program Assistant—supported in part by a generous grant from the Max H. Gluck Foundation—will fill that role to maximize volunteer support for the Artists Program and to allow our Artists Program staff to focus their efforts on therapeutic sessions for our patients in need.
